The Lompoc Café
My companion and I visited the Atlantic Brewing Company's Lompoc
Café on Rodick Street in Bar Harbor for a taste of their fall menu. We
had a relaxing meal out on the enclosed porch - the heaters had been turned
on and we were toasty. As usual the service was good - we received our
drinks quickly and the remainder of the meal was spaced out and fit our
mood. For drinks I had a pint of Ginger Wheat, a light refreshing beer with
a hint of ginger to spice it up. My companion enjoyed the Bar Harbor Real
Ale, a delicious nut brown ale.
The Lompoc changes their menu to fit the season. The fall menu features
some excellent choices such as Harvest Lasagna and Tamar Hindi. After our
favorite appetizer - a baked dip of spinach, artichoke and cheeses served
with warm pita wedges, we ordered the Fall Flavors Chicken and the Pork
Tenderloin. The Fall Flavors Chicken came with two good sized cuts of
chicken topped with herbed boursin, Granny Smith apple chutney, and capers.
The pork tenderloin was sautéed with shitakes and topped with pork gravy.
Both meals came with mashed garlic potatoes and a wedge of winter squash.
The squash complemented the apple chutney nicely. Both entrees were
delicious, although the pork gravy wasn't very flavorful.
To top it off, we split a serving of chocolate mousse for dessert. The
chocolate mousse at the Lompoc has always been my favorite - slightly grainy
with small chunks of chocolate that melt in your mouth.
The Lompoc closes for the winter at the end of October so drop by soon.
