Neo-Impressionism: Artists on the Edge
This exhibition is the first in Maine's history to focus on Neo-Impressionism, an approach to painting initiated by Georges Seurat in the mid-1880s that soon gathered followers who developed their own unique variations. Neo-Impressionism: Artists on the Edge explores the rich variety of artistic approaches within the Neo-Impressionist movement, emphasizing its engagement with various burgeoning artistic and intellectual trends of the 1880s and 1890s. Some 40 extremely appealing paintings by Georges Seurat, Paul Signac, Henri Edmond Cross, Maximilien Luce, and many others will be featured. For more detials. |
